Shine Step Studios started in January 2010 as just some informal classes amongst friends and has quickly grown into one of the best places to take dance lessons in New Orleans.
Based out of a beautiful Prohibition Era hall in the Marigny district, we take pride in keeping that welcoming atmosphere that we started out with.
Students are welcome to stay through the break between classes and dine on red beans and rice with us, get to know their peers, and the teachers. We find that by sharing food we encourage new friendships and reinforce the tradition that binds music and food in New Orleans.
Carl thinks its like this: don’t forget you’re walking when you’re dancing and don’t forget you’re dancing when you’re walking. A movement geek for all his life, a dancer for over nine years and a teacher for at least six – he builds the dance from the natural motion of the body. It’s not hat tricks and flash, it’s flow and rhythm. He has won shiny paperweights, taught all over, and done some high flying performances.
